Won’t take medical expenses from state coffer: Bhattarai

Doctors at the hospital decided to discharge him today after his health improved and have been advised to take rest at home for two weeks.
A team of doctors led by Dr Rakesh Kumar Barma had carried out Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) on him.
Talking to journalists before being discharged from the hospital, Bhattarai said all the VIPs should try and get the treatment in the country as far as possible. He thanked the doctors and the team involved in his treatment.
Saying that it cost him Rs 65,000 for the surgery and treatment and an additional Rs 20,000 for the medicine, the former prime minister announced not to take any financial aid from the state.
At the press meet, Dr Barma said he felt delighted and encouraged by former PM Bhattarai’s decision to undergo a major surgery in Nepal in the wake of growing tendency among VVIPs to go to foreign countries for minor treatment.
