Photo contest announced to celebrate Int’l Literacy Day

The contestants can submit their photos on the theme “Literacy in a Digital World”, which is also the slogan for this year’s literacy day, till September 30.
The theme highlights what kind of literacy skills people need to navigate in a digitally mediated societies, and to explore effective literacy policies and programme that can leverage the opportunities that the digital world provides, the UNESCO statement read.
The photography contest is expected to connect general people with their role to minimise the digital divide among the older generations as well as the new literates, according to the UN agency.
Three winners of the contest would be awarded Rs 10,000, 5,000 and 2,500, along with the certificates, the office stated.
