Flights resume from all airports except Biratnagar
Almost all airports in the country have come into operation on Sunday. The Biratnagar Airport, however, is still inundated, according to Tribhuvan International Airport spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur. He said Lukla Airport too is shut due to adverse weather condtition.
“In Tarai, all the airports except Biratnagar have come into operation,” said Thakur.
The floodwaters gushed through the Biratnagar Airport on Saturday. The runway is filled with up to three feet of water, according to Thakur.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is set to send a team of six technicians to the Biratnagar Airport once the runway is cleared off. The technicians will inspect electrical equipments on the runway, navigation, radio frequency and damages in the runway, if any.
Biratnagar Airprot Chief Suresh Man Singh will coordinate the team, it is learnt.
