The exhibition, titled Ripple, will have on display print artworks by artists Rukumani Shrestha, Sudesha Shrestha, Laxmi Khoteju, Rabita Kisi and Jenny Ghale.
The show will be inaugurated by culture expert and folklorist Tulshi Diwasa, alongside artists Keki Karmacharya and Madan Chitrakar.
According to the gallery coordinator at Newa Chen, Sarita Dongol, the exhibition is part of the gallery’s continued attempt to showcase artworks done by young artists, and to give them the platform to mingle with and learn from veteran artist. “We have been hosting this exhibition annually, where we showcase the artworks of fine arts students who have just obtained their Masters degrees. On the one hand, the exhibition aims to provide them a platform to showcase their works—a first for many of the participating artists—and on the other, it makes for the perfect backdrop for them to network with artist who have been practicing their craft for decades,” Dongol said. “It is also why the exhibit has been titled Ripples. Like a ripple, we hope that with this initial exhibition, artworks created by these young artists will eventually ripple out into Nepali artscape.”
The print exhibition—which will have on display works done with etching and litho print methods—will touch upon social, cultural and nature-inspired motifs. A total of 30 artworks will be on display at the month-long exhibit which will continue until September 16.
