The tour, which will start with a gig at BAC Art Café in Pulchowk, will feature renditions of MiKu’s new material. MiKu is known among its niche audience as a band that mixes Nepali folk tunes with witty poetic expressions. The band fuses traditional Nepali instruments with Western instruments, adding to the burgeoning genre of fusion that has become popular of late.
“We sing about dreams and imagination, mother and family and various aspects that define the human condition,” the band members say. “The name of the band, MiKu, is acronym to Mitho Kura, and our motive is to seek the existence of at least some sweetness in all sort of bitterness.”
After the opener at BAC, MiKu will perform at Evoke Café & Restro in Jhamsikhel (on Sept 2), at Moksh (on Sept 9), before wrapping up the tour at Café Aamu in Pulchowk on September 22.
