RPP-P moves court against EC decision

- Post Report, Kathmandu

Aug 18, 2017-The recently formed Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Prajatantrik (RPP-P) on Friday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the Election Commission’s decision to verify the signatures of the central members submitted by the party.

The party registered the writ demanding annulment of the EC’s decision, though it had submitted the signatures of 56 persons along with the support of eight persons for the registration of party at the election body, according to party assistant spokesperson Kiran Giri.

Pashupati Shamsher Rana had formed the RPP-P after severing ties with the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

In the writ, Rana accused the RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa of abducting his party’s central members and taking hostage.

The hearing for the writ will be conducted on coming Sunday.

Rana had filed an application for the party registration two weeks ago.
