Vehicular movement along the Barhabise-Kathmandu section of Arniko Highway has been halted on Saturday after landslides at Mahabhir and Juro of Sindhupalchok district.

Area Police Office, Barhabise, said debris of the landslides, triggered by continuous rainfall, has not been cleared due to falling of mud and stones from above.

One minitruck struck by the landslide on Friday night has been missing after it was swept away to Sunkoshi River.

Inspector Pancha Kumar Bakhu said passengers, primarily tourists and those taken ill, travelling through the road section were facing problems after getting stranded. "Landslide has made it dangerous to even walk on the road. Debris has completely blocked the road and clearing it may take lot of time," said Inspector Bakhu.
