Internet forum stresses wider collaboration

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Nepal-2017 concluded in the Capital on Saturday with a commitment to collaboration among stakeholders for advancement of internet, expansion of internet accessibility and reaping multiple benefits.
The forum, hosted by the Internet Society Nepal Chapter, saw presentations, followed by group discussions on internet policy, law, utility, future course and e-governance.
The two-day event drew around 50 organisations and institutions, including the Department of Information Technology, Nepal Telecom Authority, municipalities, Internet Service Providers, IT professionals, academia and media.
The forum also held discussions on the relevance and feasibility of the smart city floated by the political parties in the run-up to the local elections.
The experts attending the event suggested adoption of smart approaches in infrastructure development and good governance by taking into accounts the locally-brewed cultural features.
