Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has said that he will continue his protest saying that the government turned a deaf ear to the widespread condemnation of the move to grant affiliation Kathmandu National Medical College by the Tribhuvan University to run an MBBS programme.

Dr KC, who postponed his 11^th hunger strike on the 23^rd day in view of the crisis triggered by floods, will give medical treatment to flood affected people in Saptari district. He is also planning to run a medical camp at Tilathi later.

The TUTH senior doctor has given an ultimatum of few days to the government to correct the decision of granting affiliation to a medical college inside Kathmandu Valley in view of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s India visit.

Dr KC remarked that the lack of will shown by PM Deuba, who is also the Chancellor of TU, to take action against Vice Chancellor Tirtha Khania despite enough evidence of corruption in medical education sector demonstrates that the affiliation was granted in collusion with every party involved in the matter.

“Deuba-led government’s negligence about the issue is enough evidence to explain the collusion,” said Dr KC.

Likewise, Dr KC said that despite his weak health condition it gives him satisfaction in helping the flood-affected people.
