- Post Report, LALITPUR

Aug 30, 2017-People of Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) are facing the brunt of uncollected garbage in the streets for a week as locals from landfill site at Sisdole, Nuwakot have obstructed the way to the Valley’s only dumping site demanding the authorities blacktop the landslide damaged roads in the area.

The LMC elected officials prior to the local level election had promised of making the city a “Smart City”, however, four months after their election they have amassed another burden of garbage mismanagement over the city denizens who are already suffering from pot-hole filled, muddy and dusty roads.

Locals in Balkumari in the metropolis have been hit hard as heap of garbage left uncollected has been releasing foul smell in the vicinity adding fear of disease outbreak.

LMC senior officer Surendra Raj Awale informed collection of garbage from the city has been disrupted after multiple landslides occurred following heavy rains at various road sections leading to Sisdole including Raniban-Nagarjun-Mudu Devisthan-Aath Mile- Teenpiple- Bhatkepati.

The metropolis has alleged various groups of foiling a bid to reach a consensus with the Sisdole locals.

Likewise, LMC spokesperson Raju Maharjan informed that efforts are underway to find long term and alternative management solutions to resolve the issue.
