CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal came down heavily upon ruling coalition party Nepali Congress saying that the party has been demanding to allow the corruption-convicts to run for the elections.
"The party has not done any praiseworthy job. Their actions have tarnished the nation's image everywhere," said leader Nepal in an interaction programme in Chitwan on Friday.
"Nepali Congress and its President Sher Bahadur Deuba, also the prime minister of the country, are gradually becoming unpopular among the public for his advocacy to allow corruption-tainted leaders to run in the elections," said the UML leader, also a former prime minister.
In a different context, leader Nepal claimed that his party will emerge as number 1 party in the upcoming local polls in province 2 as well.
He said the UML is ready to forge electoral alliance with other parties if needed in the third phase local polls slated for September 18 in province 2.
He went on to accuse Electoral Constituency Delimitation Commission of fixing electoral constituencies under political pressure.
"The constituencies were not delimited based on the set criteria of population, geography, facility, access to service centres, ethnic composition, among others," he said, "The criteria has been followed in some places but political influence could be seen in most places."
The Constituency Delimitation Commission (CDC) on Wednesday submitted its report to carve out 165 constituencies across the country for the election of House of Representatives and 330 constituencies for provincial elections.
