Post-mortem report cites pneumonia as cause of infant’s death at Norvic

A team of Tribhuvan University doctors led by Dr Harihar Wasti have conducted post-mortem of the infant who died during the course of treatment at Norvic Hospital last week. A 16-month-old infant had died at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu, on August 29.
The post-mortem report has stated that the child died of pneumonia.
The deceased child’s kidney and other organs have been sent to laboratory for histopathology test. Dr Wasti said the lab-test report will come after three weeks.
Following the infant’s death, the family and relatives staged demonstration and demanded investigation accusing the negligence on the part of doctors for the death.
The Ministry of Health has formed a probe panel to look into the incident.
