Five children of a family at Amtek in Bhojpur Municipality-11 of Bhojpur district have been left in lurch due to lack of parental care after their father was arrested for the murder of their mother.Five children of a family at Amtek in Bhojpur Municipality-11 of Bhojpur district have been left in lurch due to lack of parental care after their father was arrested for the murder of their mother.
The children have been left without any care-taker after their father Harka Bahadur Tamang under the influence of alcohol murdered their mother Muna Maya Tamang, 39, while asleep on April 2, 2017.
Harka Bahadur has been arrested following the incident and kept at the District Police Office, Bhojpur.
After the incident, their grandmother Ratna Kumari Tamang, 75, is looking after them. She has been taking care of her grandchildren at a time when she herself needs care. She herself is suffering from an eye problem and cannot see properly.
Elder son Saugat Tamang is 13-year-old, Shisira Tamang, 8, Sagun Tamang, 5, Simana Tamang, 3, and Safal Tamang, 1, have been spending their days without parental care for the past five months.
They don’t have clothes to wear and even rice to eat and bed to sleep.
The children have not been able to attend regular classes as they are engaged in the household works.
Their economic condition is poor as they don’t have income source. They have not eaten food properly since the incident.
Ratna Kumari gets Rs 2,000 per month as social security allowance. Apart from that they don’t have source to get money.
After seeing their lives getting worse day by day, District Child Welfare Committee in the name of Bhojpur Municipality provided them a cheque of Rs 10,000 to buy clothes and food products. But this is barely enough.
District Women and Children Office Officer Pushpalata Upreti said that preparations are underway to send the children to a child care centre.
She informed that plans are afoot to make an agreement with the Preliminary Child Development Centre operated by Pushpa Basnet to take care of the children’s study.
