Authorities have extended a ban on nighttime travel along the Beni-Jomsom road until September 16 in view of continuous landslides for the past few days.
Earlier, vehicles were barred from plying the road from July 20 till August 31. The ban has been extended until September 16, said Myagdi District Administration Office.
A meeting of the Transport Management Committee presided over by Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Adhikari took the decision to extend travel ban.
Of the 76km route, road sections between Myagdi and lower Mustang are deemed risky.
“Multiple landslides are causing problems along the Myagdi road stretch,” said Indra Singh Sherchan, a supervisor of the Beni-Jomsom Road Project, adding that thy were having been problem in clearing the landslide debris along Begkhola (river) stretch in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-1 as well as Guinthevir and Kavrevir sections.
