Government has appointed Gyan Chandra Acharya as economic advisor of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. Acharya is the former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and former foreign secretary.
A cabinet meeting on Monday appointed Acharya as PM’s economic advisor. Acarya will draw salary and avail services in par with ministers.
Acharya has three decades of experience in the diplomatic service of Nepal, during which he was involved in the articulation and promotion of bilateral, regional and global issues.
Acharya has also served as the Secretary General of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in Vienna, Austria.
