Nepali Congress (NC) leader Bimalendra Nidhi has called on the people to defeat the CPN-UML in a humiliating manner in the upcoming elections saying that the party had not supported in the constitution amendment process.
The CPN-UML had emerged largest political force in the first and second phases of local level elections.
“The CPN-UML, which didn’t cooperate in the constitution amendment process and became anti-Madesh party recently, should be defeated in an embarrassing way,” he said at a press conference organised in Dhanusha on Monday. “CPN-UML is struggling at the present,” he added.
Saying that Madhesi people are “more nationalists’ than UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who went to North Korea at the suggestion of a Chinese official, leader Nidhi said that his party will not accept if anyone says that Madhesi parties are working at the behest of foreign forces.
He said that Madhav Kumar Nepal had made a mistake by embarking on a visit to North Korea against the country’s foreign policy.
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Nidhi said that preparations are underway to open Pipaura border point and to operate Jatahi-Janakpur-Dhalkebar six-lane trade route that connects Janakapur with India.
Moreover, he said that Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City would be elevated to Metropolitan city if mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates of NC—Manoj Sah and Nilim Karna—respectively were elected in the third phase of local level elections slated for September 18.
Though Nepali Congress had tried to amend the constitution to address the demands of Madhes-centric parties, he said that the statute could not be amended due to UML’s obstruction.
Meanwhile, he claimed that Nepali Congress could only address the sentiments of Madhesi people.
