No space for love

Sep 12, 2017-If it wasn’t abundantly clear already, Himalaya Roadies—like all other competitive reality shows—is scarcely a place for friendships, let alone love. While relationships and internal dynamics play a big part in who carries on and who gets voted out, the show is all about personal gain; it’s about which one person can out-perform and outwit the rest.

This week’s episode, the 11th of the show, was not only filled with the usual intrigue and vote-outs, but also a direct tussle between the series’ ‘lovebirds’—Bishal Koirala and Reshma Nhuchhen Pradhan—ultimately leading in a personal betrayal unlike anything that has yet transpired.

Still based out of Pokhara, the episode first began with the eight remaining contestants competing in an immunity task, split into four groups of two. Combining two of the latest adventure sports on offer at the Lake City, the contestants were pitted in a tag-team race where team members paddle boarded and peddle boarded against each other. The winning team was then granted immunity from the episode’s vote-out, while the six remaining contestants were thrown into a rap battle and a slam poetry competition to grant immunity to one more contestant.

The talking point for the show, however, was the vote-out round, where following his betrayal, Bishal Koirala, who until now was perceived as one of the strongest candidates to win the entire series, received the axe. Himalaya Roadies is nothing if it is not unpredictable.

Seven aspiring contestants now remain competing for the honour of becoming the first ever Himalaya Roadie. Himalaya Roadies is the Nepali edition of the popular Indian reality TV show MTV Roadies. Licensed for Nepal by Via Com 18, the show will run the length of 18 episodes.

Himalaya Roadies airs every Monday at 8 pm on Himalaya TV.
