Ahead of the third phase of local level elections taking place next week, senior UML leader Subas Nembang slammed the ruling coalition for promoting “immoral” practices by inducting new ministers. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday expanded his Cabinet for the fifth time by appointing three ministers from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Prajatantrik).
“We have put forward our concerns with the chief election commissioner,” Nembang said, adding that the expansion of Cabinet by a “caretaker” government mandated to hold the major polls by Jan-uary 21 is against the spirit of the constitution and the prevalent norms and practices. The party also notified the EC about PM Deuba’s plans to inaugurate a bridge in Udaypur on Saturday, two days ahead of the polling day in Province 2. (PR)
