Sep 13, 2017-Documentary film Bhagyale Bachekaharu—Nepal Earthquake: Heroes, Survivors and Miracles, which features stories of heroic survivals during 2015 earthquakes, has bagged yet another award internationally—this time, the Best Documentary Award (under ‘International’ category) at the Marietta International Film Festival, in the US.

The film, which features video footages from the earthquakes and interviews with the survivors, has won over dozen awards in the international film festival circuit and has been screened in more than 30 countries since its release at the Kathmandu International Film Festival (Kimff) in 2015.

To win the award at Marietta, the film outshined 55 films from 14 countries. Honorary Nepali Tourism Representative Raja Ghale accepted the award on behalf of Bhagyale Bachekaharu team. Bhagyale Bachekaharu was the only film that represented Nepal in the fest.

“I feel honoured to receive an award in the USA. I feel good that our film has participated in several film festivals around the world, winning at some, and along the way I hope it has to some extent promoted Nepal and Nepalis,” said Ganesh Panday, director of the film.

The 45-minute long documentary is cinematographed by Binod Bista and edited by Kumar Shah, Josiah Willow Hooper, and Sapana Shakya, featuring background score by Googal Dangol.
