Sep 18, 2017-

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday extended his best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Constitution Day.

Prime Minister Deuba wished that the Day would inspire all of us to move ahead to the path of national unity and prosperity being conscious of the rights and responsibilities.

In his message delivered today, he noted that the Constitution of Nepal is one of the best in the world from the perspective of democratic values, inclusion and civil liberties.

The Constitution has possessed the salient features of federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, periodic elections, human rights, participatory political system, independent judiciary, respect to UN charters and orientation to socialism, the PM noted. He further stressed the need to gradually enable the democratic institutions envisioned by the Constitution for its successful implementation.

Prime Minister added that the country would usher into a new era of political stability and economic development following the accomplishment of all three tiers of local, provincial and federal elections.

The Constitution is a live and dynamic political document, he said, adding it requires good political culture, civic education and good governance to keep the national charter alive.

PM Deuba went on to say that the country could reach to a logical destination as envisaged by the Constitution only when the poverty, inequality, illiteracy and conflicts prevailing in the society are adequately addressed.

He also called for support from all sides to put concerted efforts to achieve the constitutional objectives for a greater good of the country.
