Over 46 thousand passengers make advance booking for bus tickets

It has been a week since the online booking of bus tickets was opened by the transport entrepreneurs at the initiative of the government.
Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs Association Secretary-General Saroj Sitaula shared that almost 70 per cent of online booking have been made so far.
The advance online tickets booking were made from various other places such as Gaushala, Sundhara, Old Bus Park, Koteshwor among others, besides New Bus Park from where the biggest number of buses leave for several destinations out of the Kathmandu Valley.
According to him, the booking of ticket this year is lesser compared to previous year as many of the passengers have opted for air travel given the poor conditions of roads and rainfall.
An estimated (slightly) over two million people will leave Kathmandu for their respective hometowns for the festival, according to the Department of Transport Management.
Department's Spokesperson Dr Tok Raj Pandey shared that around 1,500–1,600 thousands passenger are expected to opt for public transport to travel outside of the Valley while 500 -600 thousand are likely to use private vehicles.
According to him, there has been no issue in distribution of tickets.
