Though Iraq dominated the Nepali side in the first half, they could not turn the opportunities into any goal.
After the half time, Mahommad Luye Mandlawi of Iraq netted in the 68th minute taking advantage of the misunderstanding between Nepali goalie and defender.
With the victory, Iraq accumulated three points and stands at the second place in Group ‘D’.
India, who defeated Palestine 3-0 in their first match, is at the top position in the group.
The participating 44 nations have been divided into 10 groups and the winners of all pools along with five best runners-up will qualify for next year’s finals to be hosted by Malaysia.
