“Revolution should be done by winning the hearts of people not by brandishing the guns,” said the former Prime Minister, who led a decade-long armed revolt before joining the mainstream politics, speaking at a programme organised in Gorkha on Wednesday.
He claimed that the Maoist Centre will lead another revolution in 10 years if it wins the elections.
“Nepali Congress and CPN-UML had won the elections by selling rancid flour,” said the Maoist chairman.
He said that the party faced the loss in the elections due to the increasing distance with people.
“We used to eat and sit with people during the decade-long Maoist insurgency,” he said, adding, “Now we have been hob-knobbing with contractors. We haven’t come across the people like we used to have during the insurgency.”
The Maoist leader said that the socialist revolution can be started in Nepal through peace process if his party wins the elections.
“I still have the desire to capture Kathmandu,” he said, “I am 63 and still have that energy,” he added.
“The Maoist party can emerge as the largest political force if we could strengthen our organisation by reaching out to the people,” he said.
He also urged the party cadres to leave their vested interests to save the party.
