Sep 20, 2017-

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday left for New York to attend the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This is his second foreign visit after assuming the post of prime minister on June 6.

According to Foreign Ministry officials, Deuba decided to attend the UNGA after he was advised to do so as there had not been any visit by a Nepali prime minister for the past two years. In his address to the UNGA on Saturday, the PM will talk about contemporary political situation of Nepal and constitution implementation, among other issues. Heads of state and government of more than 190 countries are expected to attend this year’s session of the world body themed ‘Focusing on People–Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.’

PM Deuba is scheduled to hold a string of bilateral meetings with leaders of other participating countries on the sidelines of the assembly. He will return home on September 18.
