Nylon ko Saadi, a song from the upcoming Nepali film Chhakka Panja 2, has crossed the 10 million views. To celebrate the feat, the film’s cast and crew organised a function in Pokhara on Tuesday. The Chhakka Panja 2 team is currently on a nationwide tour to promote the film.
The song was pulled to a controvesy after its release two months ago. The song features the melody and lyrics identical to the original by Kanchha Magar.
But the film’s director Deepashree Niraula denied the claim for plagiarism. “The song features melody from a folk tune popular in Kirtipur. We borrowed it because it would be fit for the film,” Niraula said. “If one claims it is plagiarised, then all songs by Nepathya should also be tagged the same.” But Jitu Nepal, one of film’s actors, said that if the song is tagged plagiarised, then it should be blamed on musician Almoda Rana Uprety, who composed the song for the film.
The song features vocals by Uprety and Sujata Verma.
Directed by Deepashree Niraula, Chhakka Panja 2, which features actors Deepak Raj Giri, Jitu Nepal, Swastima Khadka, and Buddhi Tamang, among others, will release on September 27, right before the Dashain festival.
