He made the statement during a programme organised by the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations and to celebrate the second anniversary of the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal and the national day at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Saturday.
PM Deuba also said that political transformation cannot sustain without economic transformation, read a statement issued by the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations today.
On the sidelines of ongoing UNGA conference, the Prime Minister also held bilateral meetings with the President of Estonia and Prime Minister of Bhutan.
Various issues of common bilateral and multilateral interests were discussed during the meeting.
It is learnt that Nepal’s relations with the European Union was also figured in the meeting as Estonia is the current president of the European Union.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who is also in the New York to attend the UNGA, attended the 41st Annual Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China.
During the meet, DPM Mahara remarked that “focus of the Group should be on addressing the resource gap that appears in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and other development agendas”.
The meeting was concluded by adopting its ministerial declaration.
Meanwhile, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Geoffrey Feltman congratulated DPM Mahara on the successful completion of the local elections during their meeting at the UN Headquarters.
Similarly, Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Asha Koirala, represented Nepal in the Annual Meeting of LDCs organised in the margins of UNGA.
Speaking at the Meeting, Minister Koirala stressed on the need to implement the Vienna Programme of Action in synergy with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adding that countries like Nepal face a resource gap in its implementation.
