The suspension of Sajha Prakashan chief Sharma was made through a ministerial level decision and will be effective from today itself.
The Ministry had sought clarification from Sharma on two occasions regarding reports of irregularities against him by the probe committee formed by the ministry. Sharma was dismissed from the post after the Ministry found his clarification on the matter unsatisfactory.
As per the probe report, Sharma has been accused of procuring papers without tender, taking Rs 300 million loan from the government, appointing relatives at the Sajha Prakashan governing committee, failing to file the record of book publications at the store and printing books in other presses saying that the machine at Sajha Prakashan was damaged.
The suspended Sajha Prakashan chief was appointed to the post by the then Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav on 2014/2015 and was re-appointed by former Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel.
Meanwhile, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has already been investigating the irregularities allegations leveled against Sharma.
Education Minister Gopal Man Shrestha informed that the investigation report prepared by the ministry has already been handed over to the CIAA.
