There are 165 federal constituencies, with twice as many provincial constituencies.
The EC recently appointed 77 chief election officers and 88 election officers with the responsibility of holding federal and provincial elections on November 26 and December 7.
They will be responsible for conducting elections for one federal constituency and two provincial constituencies, according to the EC. The election officers were mobilised in each local unit during the local level elections.
“Although we thought about stationing offices of election officers at certain location of federal constituencies, determining such location was difficult and we decided to open office of both chief election officers and election officers at district headquarters,” said EC Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal.
The EC’s latest decision means the counting of votes will also take place in district headquarters. The poll body has already decided to count the votes together after the conclusion of both phases of elections.
