Tidied up in a school uniform, Former Kumari (Living Godess) Matina Shakya was walking down the Capital roads to attend the first day of her school. She was accompanied by her father and elder sister.
The former Kumari, dressed in white shirt and green frock, is a seventh grader at the Bhotebahal-based Green Peace School.
A programme was organised by the school to welcome Shakya.
The 12-year-old Shakya had returned to her Itubahal-based house after new Kumari – three-and-a half-year-old Trishna Shakya of Bishwokarma Mahabihar, Ombahal succeded her on the day of Mahaasthami during the Bada Dashain festival.
Matina was taking classes at the Kumari Ghar while she was the reigning living goddess and Green Peace School had taken the responsibility for her education. Now, she will be attending regular classes in the co-ed school along with other students.
Meanwhile, her father is planning to perform Bel Biwaha or Ihi (Bel marriage) after the end of Dashain festival and the ritual of Gufa after Tihar.
