KMG awards Kantipur Swarnapur winner Rijal with 1kg gold

A permanent resident of Kalanki, Rijal, who has been a regular subscriber of the Kantipur daily for the past 15 years, was on Sept 16 picked as the winner of the scheme through a lucky draw at the City Centre in Kamalpokhari.
At the presentation ceremony held held at the Kantipur Media Group office complex in Thapathali on Monday, KMG’s Chairman and Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya presented a 1-kg gold chain worth Rs4.5 million to Rijal.
Sirohiya congratulated Rijal and requested her to work being an ambassador of KMG group. “I guess, by now it has been proved that KMG not only provide factual information and news to its readers, it also award its readers with attractive gifts and prizes with surprises,” said Sirohiya.
Rijal was accompanied by her husband Dhruba Hari Rijal and daughter Sleshma Rijal. Her husband, who works as a supervisor in a pharmaceutical company, said: “My wife is lucky, and our whole family and relatives are celebrating this joyous moment. This made our Dashain wonderful this time.”
Kamala was preparing tea for her husband when she first heard the news about the win. “There was a power outage. I was in the kitchen when a relative called me and broke the news,” she said. Her son Samyong Rijal, 30, is studying in West Virginia, United States, while daughter Sleshma, an MBBS doctor, works at the Bir Hospital Trauma Centre.
“She's been a lucky charm for the family ever since her birth. So we've decided to spend the money for her higher studies,” said the elated mother Kamala, referring to use the amount for Sleshma's MD programme.
