Bridge linking Okhaldhunga, Khotang will come into operation in 2 months

The authorities said that the construction works which started seven years ago would complete and come into operation within the next two months. The construction of the bridge was in the government’s priority list as the Mid-Hill Highway is a national pride project.
With the operation of Jayaramghat Bridge, the Mid-Hill Highway will connect the eastern region of the country.
“Blacktopping of the bridge has already been completed,” Engineer Daroga Prasad said, adding, “Around 90 percent of the works has been over.”
He claimed that the life span of the bridge will be around 50 years.
PK Rai, lawmaker of Kotang, informed that the blacktopping of the bridge has been completed. He said the difficult life of locals will be easier once the bridge comes into operation.
The construction of the bridge was awarded to the Hulas Steel Company with the cost of Rs 100.60 million. The bridge is being constructed with the direct involvement of Chinese technicians. The bridge is 120 metre long and six metre wide.
This is the first concrete bridge that connects Okhaldhunga and Khotang.
