Joint students’ union demand Education Act be revoked

- Post Report, Kathmandu

Oct 13, 2017-

A joint students’ union has picketed Education Minister Gopal Man Shrestha at his office in Singha Durba on Friday. They also chanted slogans demanding withdrawal of the amendment to the Education Act.

Tension ran high in the ministry after the students who reached the office to hand over a memorandum abruptly started chanting slogans.

According to ANNFSU-R Vice-Chairman Basnet, they were forced to resort to protest after the government granted affiliation to the CTEVT, a month after the beginning of a new academic session, pushed the students’ future in darkness by amending the ninth Education Act, and started charging exorbitant fees for medical courses.

Accusing the Education Minister of committing a series of education crimes, the joint students’ union also boycotted him publicly.
