30 political parties submit closed lists of PR candidates until 5pm

According to the constitutional provision, the parties are required to submit closed list of candidates for 110 members under Federal Parliament and 220 members under Provincial Assemblies unitl 5 pm today.
A total of 30 political parties have submitted the lists of their PR candidates until 5 pm and the other parties are in the process of submitting the lists, said Election Commission (EC) Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal. He added the registration of the lists was delayed as the parties showed up late to submit their PR lists.
Big political parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), and Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum, among other political parties, reached late at the EC to submit their lists. However, the parties have completed the due procedure for list submission including fee payment, spokesperson Dhakal said.
The political parties have to submit the closed list of candidates for federal and provincial assembly elections at PR unit in Kantipath-based EC office between 10 am to 5pm today. The two elections are scheduled to be held on November 26 and December 7.
Rastriya Yatharthabadi Party Nepal was the first party to submit its closed-list of 11 PR candidates today, and until 2:50pm this afternoon Nepal Samajbadi Party (Lohiyabadi) was the only other party to submit PR candidate list.
According to the constitutional provision, the political parties have to ensure that the list is inclusive with 50 percent women candidates. A total of 88 political parties have registered for participation in the PR electoral system.
The EC has slated October 22 for the submission of nominations for the first-past-the-post system of election for the first phase and November 2 for the second phase.
