Malaria downs 60 in Mugu
Oct 19, 2017-
Malaria has downed scores of people in Righa Village of Khatyad Rural Municipality in Mugu.
The disease was first detected in the village two weeks ago, and now nearly 60 people are sick, said Karna Prasad Sanjyal, a local man. Dr Jitendra Kandel of District Hospital said a team of medical workers had been sent to the affected village with anti-malaria medicines that had to be brought from Bajura district.
The disease has been spreading for the last two weeks, but the district health authority could not send the medical workers to Righa without the medicines. Chief District Officer Umakant Adhikari said his office had requested the Health Ministry to send a medical team and anti-malaria medicines to the village, but the ministry officials took too long to take decision.
