EC prohibits use of symbolic promotional materials in elections

“EC bars use of promotional materials such as hat, sticker, t-shirt, bag, tattoo, muffler, among other, in order to make the upcoming provincial and federal elections independent, fair, impartial, transparent and cost-effective,” reads a statement of EC on Sunday.
The election body has already corresponded chief election officer, election officer, chief district officer and regional/district election officers in 77 districts on Sunday instructing them to stop and control the production, distribution or display of above mentioned materials carrying parties’ election symbols as promotional tolls in upcoming polls terming the act as against the election code of conduct.
The statement said that EC took such decision after it got information about massive production and distribution of such materials for election promotion by political parties and candidates.
The EC has also directed the concerned officers to confiscate such promotional materials and take action against political parties, candidates and entities involved in violation of the election code of conduct.
