Naya Shakti Nepal quit left alliance due to prohibitory policy: Bhattarai
Oct 23, 2017-
Naya Shakti Nepal Coordinator and Gorkha Constituency No 2 candidate Baburam Bhattarai has said that he was forced to quit the newly formed left alliance after the leaders associated with the bloc brought a prohibitory policy.
During a press conference organised in Gorkha on Monday, the former Prime Minister said that he could not stay in the left alliance for long due to the tactics of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre).
“There is a tough competition between UML and Maoist Centre in the leftist alliance,” he said, adding, “They are fighting to stay in power rather than moving ahead with unification.”
The former Maoist leader further said that the alliance also barred him from contesting the upcoming elections from Gorkha-2.
“Gorkha-2 is my birth place. It is obvious that I will contest the elections from Gorkha-2,” he said.
He claimed that there would not be party unification between CPN-UML and Maoist Centre after the elections.
Claiming that Naya Shakti is a leftist democratic force, Leader Bhattarai said: “The electoral alliance between UML and Maoist Centre was formed just for their hunger for power and they will part ways after the elections.”
The Naya Shakti Coordinator said the country would witness change and head towards the path of prosperity only after the merger of leftist and democratic forces.
