One hurt in gunfire
A man was shot at in Mhepi, Kathmandu, in the wee hours of Sunday. According to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, Asun Gurung opened fire following a dispute involving a girl.
Police rounded up four suspects including Asun; Sabina Chhetri, 23, of Nuwakot; Nawaraj Lamichhane, 35; and Surendra Shahi, 31, of Kathmandu.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rabindra Singh Dhanuk, chief of the Kathmandu Police, said all these people had met at a bar. Chhetri the waitress was “close to Asun”.
On Saturday night, Kalyan and a few of his friends had approached her. “Later Asun drove Chhetri to her rented room in Sorhakhutte. In his statement, Asun told us that scooters had been following him,” said SSP Dhanuk.
According to police, Chhetri stated that Asun had a pistol inside his car and had loaded it before dropping her home. However, it is yet to be known how Asun got hold of the gun.
Asun, who hails from Swoyambhu, has been living in Sorhakhutte with his girlfriend, police said. Asun has claimed to be working for a manpower agency.
Kalyan sustained bullet injuries below his knees. Out of danger, he is receiving treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj.
