CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Ram Bahadur Thapa has decided to contest the federal parliamentary election from Nawalparasi constituency-1.

Maoist Centre Nawalparasi In-Charge and politburo member Kishan Sharma confirmed that Thapa will contest the parliamentary election from Nawalparasi constituency-1.

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Shashanka Koirala had won two Constituent Assembly (CA) elections from the same constituency.

Sharma himself is the candidate of provincial election from eastern Nawalparasi constituency-2.

After Thapa decided to contest the election from Nawalparasi constituency-1, the party has decided to deploy all its cadres in the area.

All the parties except NC have fielded heavyweight leaders in Nawalparasi constituency-1, which is the stronghold of Nepali Congress.

Nepali Congress, which had won all the parliamentary elections since 1989, will have to face a tough competition for the first time in this election.

Nawalparasi constituency-1 has two municipalities and one rural municipality.
