1,405 candidates register nominations for second phase polls

According to a statement issued by Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Sah today, the candidates registered their nominations at various offices assigned by the Election Commission (EC) from 10 am to 5 pm in a systematic way.
“The country seems ready for the elections and all the doubts related to the conduction of both the elections have been eliminated,” the statement said. With this, the process of formation of sovereign federal parliament and provincial assembly has been ensured.
The filing of nominations was held in 128 electoral constituencies for parliamentary election and 256 seats for provincial assembly in 45 districts today.
According to the information provided by the Joint Election Operation Centre (JEOC) of EC, a total of 1,405 candidates filed their nominations till 6 pm, of which 522 candidates filed their nominations for parliamentary election and 883 candidates for provincial election.
As per the election calendar, complaints can be filed against the candidates on November 3 and on the following day the EC will investigate on the complaints and publish the list of candidates eligible for the elections.
Likewise, the candidates can withdraw their candidacies on November 5 after which EC will publish the final list of candidates vying in the elections and provide them election symbol.
After receiving the election symbol, candidates can officially begin election campaign, the statement further said.
