Nepal shines at Toastmasters in New Delhi
This week, 24 toastmasters from Nepal participated in Resonance 2017, held in New Delhi. While it was the first time that Nepalis participated in any international Toastmaster contest, Nepal was able to leave a mark.This week, 24 toastmasters from Nepal participated in Resonance 2017, held in New Delhi. Five out of six division-level awards and one district-level award was bagged by Nepalis in the Toastmasters International District level speech contests.
The evaluation contests were won by Diptee Chhettri Acharya from Everest Toastmasters Club, followed by Prashant Shrestha from Himalaya Toastmasters Club. The humorous speech contest saw Seema Golchha from Everest Toastmasters Club in the first place, followed by Manoj Basnet from Everest Toastmasters Club and Rabindra Pradhan from Shangrilla Toastmasters Club, in second and third position.
Nepal is a part of District 41, which includes clubs and areas from North East and Central India, Bangladesh and Bhutan, in Toastmaster International’s global network. There are currently, nine active Toastmaster clubs with approximately 400 members who train in communication and leadership development.
“Ourmission is to form a separate District in Nepal by 2020 by promoting the Toastmasters movement all across the country,” said Area Director Ranjit Acharya.
