NCC, NMB Bank advance

Nov 10, 2017-NCC Bank and NMB Bank entered the quarter-finals of the Corporate Super Sixes cricket tournament at the TU Stadium on Thursday. 

NCC defeated Raman General Insurance by 16 runs and NMB swept past Nabil Bank by 19 runs on Thursday. NMB posted 103-0 in five overs thanks to an unbeaten 36 from Barun Ghimire. Mohan KC also struck 32 not out. 

Amit Pokharel smashed seven ball 34 not out in reply but couldn’t avert the team’s defeat as Nabil were restricted for 84 runs. Later, NCC made 91-2 with a nine-ball 36 not out from Sachin Gupta. Raman General could only make 75-1 with Sumit Shrestha scoring 11-ball 34 not out. 

In the early games, Sipradi Trading, Civil Bank and Sunbi Design made it through to the last 16 after topping their respective pools. Sipradi advanced as Group ‘B’ winners after a 44-run rout of Prabhu Bank. Nitesh Bhandari’s 14-ball 35 not out lifted Sipradi to 98-0 before they restricted Prabhu to 54-3. 

Surya Nepal followed Sipradi as runners-up in the pre-quarterfinals easing past Prabhu by five wickets. Prabhu were all out for 70 in 4.5 overs before Surya Nepal replied with 71-1 with Amit Pathak scoring 11-ball 31.

Civil Bank finished Group ‘G’ winners following a six-wicket win over Shangrila Spirits. Shangrila made 39-5 in five overs and Civil cantered to victory reaching the target in just nine legal deliveries. NIC Asia Bank followed them to last 16 as runners-up. 

Sunbi Design won their second consecutive Group ‘H’ game to go through as table toppers after a 43-run victory over Mega Bank. Sunbi posted 106-2 with Bijay Barakoti scoring a 13-ball 31. Mega could only manage 63-2. Mega had earlier lost to Janata Bank by five wickets as the latter sealed a spot in the last 16.

Mega made 49-4 before Ramesh Maharjan’s 14-ball 31 not out guided Janata to 51-1. Machhapuchhre Bank overcame Annapurna Media by four wickets to enter pre-quarterfinals from Group ‘D’.
