Oli, Dahal to address masses in 14 cities
Nov 10, 2017-After dropping their weeklong Taplejung-Darchula joint election campaign, top leaders of the left alliance of the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) are preparing to address a total of 14 mass meetings jointly across the country for the upcoming polls.
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will jointly address various mass meetings in 14 major cities, according to Chetan Adhikari, press coordinator of Oli.
The federal and provincial elections are scheduled for November 26 and December 7.
Earlier, the left alliance had announced a weeklong Taplejung-Darchula poll campaign, which was set be inaugurated on November 5 from Taplejung.
But it dropped the plan after Dahal could not manage time for the mass meeting in Taplejung, which was addressed by Oli. The left alliance said Dahal could not attend the Taplejung gathering as he was busy campaigning in Chitwan.
Dahal, who contested Constituent Assembly polls from Rolpa, Kathmandu and Siraha, has returned to his home district and is contesting the federal elections from Chitwan-3.
Preparations are underway for joint addresses by the top leaders of the left alliance, said Adhikari.
The left alliance is planning to start mass meetings in 14 cities from November 15-25.
According to the plan, Dahal and Oli will start on November 25 from Gorkha. Maoist Centre’s Narayan Kaji Shrestha is pitted against Naya Shakti Nepal’s coordinator Baburam Bhattarai in Gorkha-2.
Oli and Dahal are then scheduled to address mass meeting in Baglung and Syangja (November 16), Damak (November 18), Kakadvitta and Biratnagar (November 19), Chitwan (November 21), Butwal and Dang (November 22), Surkhet and Dailekh (November 23), Kailali and Kanchanpur (November 24) and Pokhara (November 25).
Dahal’s daughter-in-law Bina Magar is contesting federal polls from Kanchanpur-1.
