In the final match, Civil Bank made 80-3 in five overs before bundling out ICFC for 77 runs in the last ball of the day. Nishesh KC and Bhola Bista picked up two wickets each hand Civil Bank a victory in a low scoring title match. The victory has handed Civil a free entry into tournament’s next edition.
Sagar Nidhi Tiwari struck two sixes and two boundaries to top score in the match with a 12-ball 25 but cannot take his team across the finish line. Arbin Rana also made an 11-ball 21 with three boundaries and a six, while Samir Thapa (15) was their next notable scorer.
Earlier, Bista had produced an allround show scoring 23 runs from 16 balls with two sixes and a boundary. Manish Singh (19 not out) and Nishesh (14 not out) also made runs in double figures. Earlier in the semi-finals, Civil Bank had sidelined defending champions Century Bank by eight runs in another low scoring game.
Civil Bank made 66-3 with Bista’s 10-ball 33 before restricting Century Bank to 58-1. ICFC had swept aside NIC Asia Bank in the last four. They made 86-3 on a back of 23 runs from Sameer Thapa and Nitesh Tiwari’s two wickets helped ICFC restrict NIC Asia to 52-4.
Civil played three matches on Saturday and their first game was the quarter-final against NCC Bank whom they had crushed by 52 runs. Abhay Rana’s 15-ball 35 not out with three sixes and three boundaries lifted Civil to 87-1. NCC were shut down for 35-3 in five overs. NIC Asia had made it to the semi-finals cruising past NMB Bank by five wickets in the day’s first quarter-final game.
Suraj Timalisina of Century was adjudged the player-of-the-series and maximum sixes awards. ICFC’s Arbin (batsman) of ICFC, Civil’s Bista (bowler) and Subash Sharma (wicketkeeper) of Century were other individual winners. A total of 24 corporate teams had participated in the tournament organised by SS Events.
