Six people lost their lives in separate road accidents that took place in Kailali on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Three people were killed in when a passenger bus met with an accident at Chure Rural Municipality-3 of Dadeldhura Bhimdutta Highway. The ill-fated bus (Na 7 Kha 2723) skidded off the road and fell some 100 meters down the road at around 5 am on Sunday.
According to Khanidanda Police Inspector Dan Bahadur Rokaya, Jhunti Devi Chand, 64, of Shivanath Rural Municipality, Baitadi, Kabita Tiwari, 24, of Pancheshwor Rural Municipality-4, Baitadi and Rewati Bhat, aged around 19, were died in the accident. Twenty-four others were injured in the accident.
Two passengers who sustained serious injuries have been taken to Haldawani in India for treatment, while the 22 others have been receiving medical attention at Attariya-based Padma Hospital.
In another incident, a police head constable died in a motorcycle accident at Gauriganga on the East-West Highway. Head constable Gajendra Singh Thagunna working at Kailali Rajipur Police post died when a jeep (Se 1 Pa 1702) coming from the opposite direction hit his motorbike (Se 4 Pa 7527).
Similarly, in a separate accident, a woman died in a motorbike accident at Godavari Municipality in Kailali on Saturday night.
Lalita Joshi, 35, of Budi Ganga Municipality in Bajura, died in the accident.
Meanwhile, a person died in a tractor (Se 1 Ta 9253) accident at Patthariya of Kailali district on Saturday. Tractor driver Pradeep Chaudhary, 21, died in the accident, police said.
