IEDs found, defused from several areas in Melamchi

According to the police, a pressure cooker bomb was found at Melamchitar-based Indrawati Campus premises in Jyamire Milanchok and another was recovered from near a bridge that connects Shikharpur Tipeni at Melamchi bazaar.
Local students had notified security agencies after they found the IED along with some wires at Milanchok, Melamchi Ward no 9 early Friday morning. A team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force defused the bomb.
Likewise, on the same day another pressure cooker bomb was found in Indrawati Campus and soon after defusing the IED another bomb was recovered from the motorable bridge at Melamchi bazaar.
District Police Chief SP Mohan Pokharel said that the incidents are being purported to disrupt the election process. “These incidents are intended to disrupt the upcoming polls,” said SP Pokhare, “We have defused the IEDs and have increased vigilance in the run up to the elections.”
SP Pokharel further informed that complaints of IEDs being placed by unidentified persons have quadrupled in view of the upcoming polls.
Democratic Alliance candidate Pashupati Shamser Rana and Left Alliance candidate Sher Bahadur Tamang are contesting the upcoming federal election from Sindhupalchok Constituency-2.
