Rupandehi XI rallied to beat Morang XI 3-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the second Satashi Gold Cup football tournament in Jhiljhile on Friday.

The victory sets up Rupandehi’s last eight clash with Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC). Sunil Khadka had provided Morang the lead before Abba, Amar Khadka and Bijay Dhamal replied for Rupendehi. Khadka capitalised a pass from Manish Thapa to give Morang the 14th minute lead. Khadka also came close to adding the second in the 36th minute only to see his shot sail inches high over the bar.

Rupandehi, however, came all guns blazing after the break with Abba equalising only two minutes after resumption. Morang goalkeeper Surya Adhikari spilled the initial aba strike but the striker followed it up to convert the goal in his second attempt.

Aba was in thick of the action once again when he delivered a perfect cross for Dangol to head home the second Rupandehi goal. Rupandehi completed a remarkable turnaround when Dhimal scored the third goal late in the injury time. Tribhuvan Army Club will take on Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club in the first quarter-final match on Saturday.
