Media warned against ‘code violation’

The PCN has recorded 24 reports in 11 newspapers, four on three radio stations, five on four TV stations and 15 items on six online news portals as instances of the code violation. Information officer Deepak Khanal said the media were found to have reported on campaigns and carried advertisements of parties and the candidates during the silent period. Khanal said the PCN has written to the media outlets about it.
The council found during its monitoring 113 incidents of code violation as of Thursday. Before the silence period, it found issues in 54 media outlets—34 concerning 24 newspapers, 32 by 18 radios, 27 involving seven TV stations and 20 reports on five online sites. The PCN launched its “special monitoring” on November 12. (PR)
