Of the 377 polling centres in five districts of the Karnali region, 30 have been blanketed in snow.
Temperatures have plummeted to sub-zero in the areas where there are more than 60 polling centres in the Karnali region.
“Elections won’t be affected if we don’t receive fresh snow in the area,” said Shobha Adhikari, an information officer at the Mid-Western Regional Administration Office, who is coordinating the elections in Province 6.
“In Dolpa, 19 polling centres are covered with snow while Limi valley of Humla and Dolphu as well as Mugu village of Mugu have also received snow. Election materials, election officials and security personnel had to be airlifted as foot trails have been buried under snow. Similar is the situation in Manang and Mustang. (PR)
