In yet another incident of blast in the Capital valley, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off at Balkot of Suryabinayak Municipality-3 in Bhaktapur on Tuesday evening.

Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi, Chief DSP Parajwolman Maharjan said that the bomb exploded in a town planning near Rose Village at around 7:30 pm this evening. DSP Maharjan said no human casualty was reported since the blast occurred in an empty area.

The blast formed a crater but no suspicious object was found nearby, said police. The area has been cordoned off for investigation.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, federal parliamentary candidate from NC Daman Nath Dhungana and provincial assembly ‘B’ candidate from left alliance Rajendra Shrestha live in Balkot.

The blast near the politician’s settlement has left the Balkot public panic-stricken.

Earlier in the day, a bomb was detonated in Lagankhel of Lalitpur targeting the left alliance election assembly today itself.
