Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that the left alliance has been conspiring to wipe out democracy. He added that the left alliance has been trying to scrap the new constitution and introduce an autocratic rule in the name of presidential system.

Addressing an election assembly of Nepali Congress in Pokhara on Wednesday, PM Deuba remarked that the present election is the battle between communist rule and democratic system. “Autocratic Rana rule, dictatorial Panchayat system and monarchy were toppled under the leadership of Nepali Congress,” said Deuba. “Nepali Congress’ victory is important for further strengthening of democracy in the country.”

He went on to claim that the victory of communists will shut the door for foreign investment in the country and the domestic investors will also escape. He added that the rhetoric of prosperity as reiterated by communist will not be possible without industry and employment. He claimed that NC is the only party trusted by foreigners. 

The NC president also claimed that the people won’t be able to speak, write and protest injustice and won’t have sovereignty over personal property if the communist win the elections.

At the programme, NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel said that the left alliance of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) have cooked up a plan to prevent political stability, and economic prosperity in the country. He claimed that the communists of Nepal only create problems but cannot give solutions.
